We are proud of NURE graduate Mstyslav Chernov and the first Ukrainian Oscar

On March 11, the Oscar Awards were presented, which was a significant achievement for Ukraine. The documentary film “20 Days in Mariupol” won the “Best Full-Length Documentary” award. We are proud not only of this fact, but also of the fact that its director Mstyslav Chernov is a graduate of NURE. Mstyslav Chernov became a student of the First Among the Best in 2002, choosing the field of study “Computer Engineering”. During his studies, he started his career as a photographer and continued to develop in this field after graduating from our university in 2007. So, we know Mstyslav as a talented, active and caring person, who managed to show the whole world the truth about the Russian invasion, to draw attention to Ukraine once again and to make a significant creative contribution to the Victory.

We are proud of NURE graduate Mstyslav Chernov and the first Ukrainian Oscar It is a great honor for us to represent Ukraine at the Oscars ceremony. This statuette, this victory is for Ukrainians, for the people of Mariupol. I’m thankful to everyone who defends our country and fights for our freedom.

For me is more important than ever to be talking about Ukraine.
We keep reminding the world about what is happening right now. We live in the time, when we are bombarded by tragedies. We live in a time when every day something terrible happens, and we hear it coming from everywhere: screens, newspapers, social media. And we forget tragedy, that happens yesterday.
So making a documentary, is the only way to preserve this story, preserve symbol or a city which doesn’t exist anymore.
This award is for the people of Mariupol, they have saved our lives.
And for families of hundreds Mariupol defenders, who are still in Russian prisons.
