24 August: Independence Day of Ukraine
Independence begins where one’s own choice is made — together with the willingness to take responsibility for it.
It is the everyday ability of a country to determine its own path, make its own choices, and recognize the consequences of the decisions that shape its future.
For Ukraine, this path is particularly challenging. Yet it is precisely in times of the greatest challenges that the true value of freedom becomes clear — the opportunity to develop our own state, culture, education, science, and technology without giving up the right to determine our own priorities.
For the university community, independence has another dimension: the freedom to conduct research, ask difficult questions, create new knowledge, and transform it into solutions. It is through education, science, and professional responsibility that the country we want to see is shaped.
Independence is not only the right to choose the future. It is the responsibility to create it.
