Training for teachers: teaching methods in conditions of hybrid threats

On September 16, 2024, the National University of Ostroh Academy hosted a training for teachers of universities that are part of the Consortium within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “WARN – Academic countermeasures to hybrid threats (610133-EPP-1-2019-1-FI-EPPKA2-CBHE -JP)”.

The purpose of the event was to spread innovative teaching practices acquired during trainings at European partner universities of the WARN project. The team of teachers of the NURE EC department, headed by the head of Department Prof. T.V. Polozova took an active part in this event. The participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with pedagogical approaches aimed at improving the quality of education in the conditions of modern challenges and threats.

The training began with a speech by Professor Anatoliy Hudoliya, head of the Department of English Philology of the National University of Ostroh Academy, who spoke about the introduction of the latest teaching methods into the educational process. His report emphasized the need to adapt teaching approaches to the rapidly changing conditions of modern education and the security landscape.

Oksana Hrytsuk, associate professor of the Department of Psychology of the Horliv Institute of Foreign Languages (Bakhmut-Dnipro), shared her experience of using the Kahoot platform as part of “inverted learning”, which allows students to better learn the material through interactive tasks.

Valentyna Zasadko, the director of the School of Public Administration of UCU, presented an interesting and important speech, where the case method as an effective tool in teaching topics related to countering hybrid threats was presented.

Maria Golovyanko, associate professor of the Department of Artificial Intelligence of NURE, drew attention to the importance of an interdisciplinary and multicultural approach in education, which helps to prepare students for their  respond to the complex challenges of hybrid threats.

The training was completed by the speech of Alla Atamanenko, professor of the National Academy of Sciences, who highlighted the issue of using dilemmas as an important component of training specialists in the field of international relations and national security.

A lively discussion of the proposed approaches allows us to say that the event became an important platform for the exchange of experience between professors and lecturers teachers. Such creative interdisciplinary interaction of teachers really contributes to the introduction of innovations into the educational process, which will prepare a new generation of students for the challenges of the modern world.
